Summer 2012 Changed Me Forever

So, this Summer was amazing, just to start off. So many people came into my life through Somerset Beach Campground that I will remember forever! I miss them all terribly and would like for them to know that I love them dearly. :) I feel like I have not only made a difference in the lives of the campers that came through here, but also in my own life. God really opened my eyes to my walk with Him.

I've always felt very close to God and have grown a lot in the years that I have been a Christian. However, this summer I realized how much I just "get by" in my faith. I didn't feel the desire to read my Bible all the time or pray whenever I felt the need to. I didn't want to rely on His strength to get me through situations, and I now know how wrong that all was. Through this summer at camp, I have learned that I am being a poor Christian. My eyes were opened to how I can hunger and thirst for God's word and His ways. The Bible is now way more to me than something to hold and show off. It's my most precious text book, guide book, and encouragement letter. I am reading through Psalms right now, and plan on taking as long as I want on it. There are so many verses I want to put up around my bedroom and dorm room! I encourage anyone reading this to try the same...maybe not in Psalms but a book in the Bible that you feel led to read.
